About TelLab

Mark Bowkett, a chemical engineer, established T.E. Laboratories (TelLab) thirty years ago, and as CEO, he has overseen the company’s growth through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth.

Today, the business includes four laboratory divisions (focused on environmental, microbial, fuel and machine care & transformer oil analyses), a production facility for laboratory chemicals and a training & events unit, working hand-in-hand with our Environmental Sensors R&D and New Product Development teams. We also own the Chemcatcher® brand and operate online hand and surface sanitiser shops serving the Irish and UK markets.

Recognising that nutrient pollution is one of the planet’s most widespread, costly and challenging environmental problems, we have developed Aquamonitrix® as a new type of water sensor for nitrate and nitrite monitoring.

Our mission to find a better way

At the coal-face of environmental analysis for almost three decades, we understand the enduring position of ‘grab n’ lab’ approaches. But we also know that manual sampling and centralised laboratory analysis doesn’t provide all the answers.

In today’s data driven world, scientists and engineers are looking for real-time information to make instantaneous decisions.  They want near-continuous data to better understand, model, predict and optimise.

And so, it became our mission to develop a suite of next-generation sensors that meets these needs, while retaining the accuracy and precision achievable within the lab and being rugged, user-friendly and affordable enough for widespread deployment in real-world environments.

about us

Helping solve the nutrient challenge with Aquamonitrix®

The impetus for our Aquamonitrix® product line came from a US EPA challenge seeking a better, more affordable and robust sensor for nutrient analysis.

Our response started out as an MSc project first, then a PhD. When our prototype started to significantly outperform the EPA Challenge targets for the accuracy and precision of nitrate and nitrite detection, we knew this was a project we had to take from the lab into the marketplace. Bringing a full team onboard, we have honed the design over seven years, trialled it in the field in Ireland, Spain, Finland, the US and New Zealand, incorporated feedback on functionality and usability from end-users, and worked with product design experts to optimise everything from ergonomic handling to lean manufacture.

As a result, we are now ready to introduce you to the Aquamonitrix® family of sensors for game-changing, next-generation nitrate and nitrite monitoring.
